What are Flows?

If you're new to marketing automation and Flows, this is where to start. You will learn the basics of Flows including example use cases and examples.

Flows is the word we use in Encharge to describe the path that a Person goes through when they enter the system.

Flows can help you create better customer experiences, deliver personalized messages across multiple channels and increase your revenue by automating repetitive marketing, sales and support tasks. Flows can be one of your hardest-working tools. After a Flow is activated, it can run with no additional input from you or a need to ever click “Send". That's why the return on investment (ROI) with Flows is so high.

Use cases and example Flows

You can create flows to:

Deliver personalized targeted email sequences

Instead of creating a basic time-based email sequence you can segment your audience based on their interests and challenges and deliver targeted email follow ups that have higher engagement. For example, your flow could check which link a person clicked in your Welcome email and put people in entirely different sequences based on their choice.

Increase your open rates and click-trough rates

Email is one of the most effective and crowded marketing channels. If you rely on email marketing to grow your business, you want your customers to read your emails. With Encharge you can create Flows that help you increase your email engagement almost automatically. For instance, you can re-send email follow-ups with different subject lines or content to people who have missed opening or clicking on your email the first time around.

Reach out to your leads on other channels

Leads not opening your emails? No problem. You can create a Flow that puts unengaged people into a Facebook audience and broadcast targeted Facebook ads at the right time. With a Flow you don't need to export and import that audience manually, the Flow does everything for you once it is set up.

Create behavior-based campaigns

Behavior-based (or event-triggered) emails get 70% higher engagement than untargetted time-based emails. Once you have your app's data in Encharge you can create sophisticated Flows that send emails based on real-time events. For instance, if someone has started an activity in your product but haven't finished it, you can send them a reminding email. Or if someone visits your pricing page and haven't yet made a purchase, you could send an internal email to your sales team to follow-up with this person.

Create campaigns based on billing data

With our native integration with Stripe, you can send emails to people when they start a trial, upgrade their account, cancel a subscription or miss a payment (dunning emails). Create flows that help you grow your subscription-based business and retain more customers.

Collect customer data and create precise segments

With dozens of form integrations, Zapier, Segment.com, Stripe, Intercom, Hubspot and a website tracking feature you can collect enough data to create the most complete picture of your leads, users and customers. This behavioral data gives you insights into the interests, needs and problems of your audience. You can then tag and Segment different groups of people to provide a more personalized and relevant messages.

Qualify and score leads

With the collected user data and the Lead Scoring feature, you can create flows that evaluate your leads for you and help you act proactively. Qualify leads using attributes, events and email activity as they interact with your website and emails. When a lead reaches a score you define, you can put that lead into an automated sequence or create a deal in Hubspot and assign to a sales person.

How Flows work?

You create Flows in Encharge using a powerful drag-and-drop Flow builder by dragging and dropping and connecting Steps on to an area called the Canvas:

Flows consist of Steps. There are 3 types of Steps in Encharge:‌

  • Triggers - Triggers start flows. People enter flows through Triggers.

  • Actions - Actions do different marketing automation things, like Sending an email.

  • Filters - Filters filter people into different buckets or swimming lanes based on specific conditions. For example, Send an email if Person has a value of $100 OR add to a Facebook audience if the Person has a value of $500.

Triggers, Filters and Actions are distinguishable by their unique icons.

Create a new flow

To create your first Flow go to the Flows page and click the Add button on the bottom left:

In the Drawer you will be asked to select one of our pre-defined best-practice flow templates or Start blank.

Select on Start blank to start with an empty flow.
